Tragedy
Lonely worlds sometimes get lonelier.
Throughout my writings, I have occasionally mentioned someone named Jeff. I have described him as a fellow who lives with my parents and who has battled with addiction problems (saying that he’s bounced from addiction to addiction like a ping-pong ball in a dryer wouldn’t be too far off the mark).
Well, recently he’d been doing better. He’d been clean of his alcohol addiction for almost two years, and had only occasional times (only one or two in the past year) where he’d taken too much of his prescription medication. We hadn’t become friends, but we’d certainly become more cordial to each other. Heck, I even invited him over to my home one evening when the power had gone out at my parents' house.
Today, my parents found Jeff dead in his bed. He likely died sometime early this morning.
We aren’t sure yet what carried him off into the night, but this is a difficult time for my father and mother especially.
He had plans for his Christmas and was looking into getting a job that he could do to accommodate his disabilities.
Things rarely ever go as planned.
