The Winter of My Discontent

Total number of times people have assumed I'm gay since starting to write here: 8 and counting...

I am a dedicated futurist and a strong supporter of the transhumanist movement. For those who know what it means, I am usually described as a "Lawful Evil" with strong tendencies toward "Lawful Neutral." Any apparent tendencies toward the 'good' side of the spectrum can be explained by the phrase: "A rising tide lifts all boats."

Finally done

Alright, so this post is late by a couple of days, but I’ve been busy trying to recuperate from my orgy of productivity. The past two-and-a-half weeks have been a nonstop work-session. Looking back, I can barely believe what I have managed to accomplish. In that brief period, I wrote more than 85 pages of well-researched material, wrote another 15 pages on my original manuscript detailing my biological account of political theory, revised an old essay of mine explaining what I view as an important contribution to the philosophy of language (I call it the content-filter of language), and added another chapter to my novel (despite the criticism of anonymous people on my blog in regard to the first draft of the prologue).

On top of that, I’ve done all of my Christmas shopping, helped my parents cope with the death of a young man they viewed as their son, finished re-reading a half-dozen books, cleaned my apartment from top-to-bottom, and conquered the world a few score times over on one of my favorite games (Civilizations 4).

My finals went well, I think. Because of my multiple-weeks long mania, I have been able to have my ideas simply flow. My Comparative Constitutional Law paper was due on Monday, and I didn’t start it until 11:30 pm on Sunday night. Did that stop me from turning in a 29 page, well-researched paper that I think presented some intriguing ideas that could spurn some interesting future writing? Not at all. Even though the paper wasn’t due until 11:59 pm on Monday, I had it finished, proofread, printed, and handed in by 4:30 that afternoon. I’m just that good.

The problem is that I’m finally starting to come down off of my manic high. I’m sleeping in and just laying around the house far more than I’m used to (in comparison to the previous weeks, anyway). Without the diversion of school, I simply don’t know what to do with myself generally, and right now is no exception.

I can’t believe that I’ve barely started my winter break and I’ve already checked online to find out the date that classes resume for the Spring. I’ve got to be one of the few people who starts up a countdown until classes start. Most people count the days until classes end, usually.

Oh well, I’m going to try to accomplish a few more things before my mania fully wears off. Maybe I can get in another full chapter before I’m back to normal.
