I am a dedicated futurist and a strong supporter of the transhumanist movement. For those who know what it means, I am usually described as a "Lawful Evil" with strong tendencies toward "Lawful Neutral." Any apparent tendencies toward the 'good' side of the spectrum can be explained by the phrase: "A rising tide lifts all boats."

Poor little penguins.

I think I’m going to cry.

A semi truck in Texas overturned today, spilling its cargo off the side of the road. The truck wasn’t carrying canned goods, machinery parts, or any of the things you might normally think of as being shipped from one place to another. Instead, the truck was carrying animals from one zoo to another, while their habitat at the first zoo was being remodeled.

Many exotic fish died in the crash, but the truck was also carrying penguins. The cute little penguins largely stayed together in a ditch, but one was killed in the crash, and three others were struck and killed by passing motorists.

I just can’t stop thinking about the little penguins being hit by passing cars. I want to think about something else – anything else, really, - but I keep picturing their little bodies, broken, bloody, and battered, beside the road. I just want to not feel so sad anymore. Why can’t I stop thinking about them?
